Facebook Business Strategies That Work
The article can be found by clicking the above title.
COMMENT:
Most people in the world today have facebook. Even children as young as seven years old have facebook. Not to forget the senior citizens who are not totally ‘IT blind’ have facebook too. Facebook has its good and bad. It is a social network that becomes medium to socialize and for gathering back with old long lost friends. Other than socializing, facebook offers the users to play games and do business at the same time. Business carried on facebook is one type of e-commerce that we have learnt in Chapter 6.
The most common business that usually be done through facebook is buying tokens for games. Games like Café World for example, users are given a certain amount of virtual money to start a café business in Café World which includes the furniture, decorations and food to be served. Sometimes, the virtual money is not enough to complete the users desire to decorate their virtual café. Hence, there are services that offer tokens to be bought online and these tokens can be substitute to the virtual money. People who are addicted to facebook and this kind of games will easily buy the tokens to continue playing without having to wait or sacrifice their wants towards their virtual café. This is one type of business on facebook.
Other than that, people also use facebook as a medium to promote their businesses, either products or services. As there are many competitors in the market today, sellers tend to use different styles of promoting their products and services. Since people today are living in the world of Facebook, advertising their products could probably attract customers, new and existing. That would also depends on how interesting and convincing they advertise their products and how customers take it. The information provided and good feedbacks from existing customers will also attract new customers.
Promoting a business and selling through facebook will increase the target market as the business can be viewed by people nationally and also internationally as the internet connects people all over the world. A small business can even be larger and progressive.
However, this kind of business is also open to risks and frauds, just like any other e-commerce applications. Organizations should control anything they post or posted by their fans. It is important to consistently manage their facebook accounts and take immediate actions towards certain comments and suggestions by their customers.
Article 2: Wi-Fi
BBB Advises Internet Surfers to Use Caution When Using Wi-Fi Networks that Aren’t Their Own
The article can be found by clicking the title above.
COMMENT:
A Wi-Fi is a short form of wireless fidelity. It enabled device such as a PC, video game console, smart phone or MP3 player can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. A wireless network uses radio waves, just like cell phones, televisions and radios do. In fact, communication across a wireless network is a lot like two-way radio communication. A computer's wireless adapter translates data into a radio signal and transmits it using an antenna. A wireless router receives the signal and decodes it. The router sends the information to the Internet using a physical, wired Ethernet connection. The process also works in reverse, with the router receiving information from the Internet, translating it into a radio signal and sending it to the computer's wireless adapter. The coverage of one or more interconnected access points called a hotspot can comprise an area as small as a single room or as large as many square miles. We usually use Wi-Fi at home, universities and café. Wi-Fi is very useful as we do not need to connect wires to our devices to access the Internet. Free Wi-Fi that is provided by mostly café and restaurants is even greater. It usually attracts people especially students and businessman to spend most of their time there to use the free Wi-Fi in finishing work, study or socialize.
However there are many threats from this facility. People with bad intention can try to trespass people’s connection and steals information and even send viruses. For example, when a person is working at a café, keying in information about his company, other party or people from another organization might try to steal the information to sabotage or to foregone the organization. This can be harmful to the organization as the data or information that the person was working with might be confidential. If the person was working on the planning of some project, the bad people might use the plan and precede before the working person could even start to conduct his plan.
This kind of trespassing is also called hack. Hack will not only be harmful to organization but also to people personally. This is because hackers can even steal people’s personal details. Worst, they can even hack people’s account for internet banking and thus steals money.
Therefore, people are not advisable to use public Wi-Fi to do their job which involves private and confidential data. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure.
Article 1: Regarding Human Resource.
Check List for Disciplining Employees and Providing Iron-Clad Documentation
The article can be found by clicking the above title.
COMMENT:
Managers often got promoted based on maturity (experience of years of working) but they are not sent to seminars or trainings to improve their managing skills. As managers got promoted, their job scope varies from what they are doing before. Therefore, they should be sent to training programs to freshen up their responsibilities. The seminar or training programs should contain the job responsibilities, motivation and acknowledgement of the promotion. By that, managers will be pumped to undertake the new position.
It is important to know that when manager got promoted, they become the boss who will take the responsibility to manage the staffs, control activities and delegate work. Becoming a boss is a big responsibility. A boss should be charismatic and strict in leading an organization.
Having to document everything that involves in managing an organization is hassle but at the end of the day, it will be essential for reference if something comes up. For instance, an employee makes a mistake, the manager should give warning and record the offenses made. It is because if one day that particular employee is sacked and gone into court to fight for his job, the manager can fight with the recorded offenses made by the employee.
Documentation will not just be evidence of what happened but also to give motivation to employees to work harder and to be disciplined. Discipline is the most important key towards success. Managers should be strict in disciplining employees. Employees should be aware their failure to obey rules should be improved. This way will also make them feel more responsible towards their job and the organization.

Internet Transactions
In this millennium years, internet transactions are very popular among people in the whole world. This is because the Internet makes people’s life easier in many ways. People would not have to go to post offices to buy stamps to post letters because there are emails, they would not have to queue up to pay bills anymore because everything can be done online. Technologies become broader each day with new inventions and innovations as people are becoming more intelligent. Internet transactions mean involving money either spending or receiving. It can happen in many ways such as internet banking, online shopping and travel reservations.
First and foremost is internet banking. This is the most popular internet transactions and was originated first before other applications are derived. Internet banking involves money-ins and money-outs. It recorded the debits and credits transactions stored accordingly. Users can check their bank transactions using the internet banking. Internet banking allows user to monitor their money, keep updated with the transactions and even to have evidence of the flow of their money. Other than monitoring and managing the bank accounts, users are also able to pay bills through internet banking. For example by using maybank2u.com, users are able to pay monthly installments for their car, house and Astro subscription. They can also pay debts for credit cards. The process of paying bills will take up only five minutes with internet transactions or internet banking instead of having to travel to the offices to pay bills, have to find parking and pay for parking which costs more money and waste more time.
Secondly is buying or using services through internet. For example is MyEG. MyEG develop online government transactional services for the Malaysian community through its Electronic Government (E-Government) Initiatives. MYEG focuses on delivering improvements in the Government internal operations and in the delivery of services to the consumers. The services offers by MyEG are renewal of driving license and roadtax and insurance renewal. Users only have to login to MyEG website at www.myeg.com.my and fill in the related information and make payment via online banking. Another example is Pos Malaysia. Nowadays, Pos Malaysia offers many new services such as sending medicines to parents in the hometown and even doing postage from home to home where customer does not need to go to post office to send parcels to be sent to a certain address but instead, they come to u to pick-up the stuff. These services can be applied and paid through their website www.pos.com.my .

Online shopping has becoming popular these days. With the traffic jams, increasing price of petrol and have to pay many tolls to go to malls to shop, people nowadays tend to do and in fact, prefer online shopping as they can save a lot on travelling, parking and also their precious time that they can actually use to do other beneficial things. Online shopping only requires a computer with internet connection and websites to view products to buy. There are many things sold online, majorly on clothing and there are also cameras, laptop such as Dell that can be bought from their website www.dell.com.my and even groceries can be done online at www.doorstep.com.my .
Management Information System
Management Information System is one of the core subjects that I have to take in the first semester of my first degree in Human Resource Management. It is an interesting subject as it does not only require reading but also practically apply using the computer and the Internet. Basically we learn about managing information system that is related to our daily lives and business organizations. It includes the functions, types, ethics, privacy and security, as wells as the applications and issues of managing information system.
According to the business dictionary, management information system is an organized approach to the study of the information needs of an organization's management at every level in making operational, tactical, and strategic decisions. Its objective is to design and implement procedures, processes, and routines that provide suitably detailed reports in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner. In a management information system, modern, computerized systems continuously gather relevant data, both from inside and outside an organization. This data is then processed, integrated, and stored in a centralized database (or data warehouse) where it is constantly updated and made available to all who have the authority to access it, in a form that suits their purpose.
Information systems are important for a variety of reasons. Information systems and information technologies are integral to our lives. The information systems field also offers many career opportunities. Basically, all functional areas in an organization utilize information systems. There are many examples of the ways in which information systems and technologies ease our lives such as registering for classes in student portal, access notes and do assignments on i-learn portal, conduct banking, pay bills, online-shopping, job searching and travel reservations. Apart from activities perform online, there are other examples of how IS and IT are essential to daily living. For example is using smartphone rather than a regular wireline telephone. Smartphone has a calendar, an address book, a calculator, a digital camera, and several types of software to download musics and movies. The phone also enables user to seamlessly use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, to communicate by voice, email, instant messaging and text messaging. Other examples are blog and social sites such as facebook.
Information technology offers career opportunities. Being knowledgeable about IT can improve the chances of employability. Information technology is vital to the modern businesses. The demand for IT staffs such as programmers, business and system analysts and designers are high. In addition, many well-paid jobs exist in emerging areas such as the Internet and e-commerce.
Other than that, IT is used by all departments in an organization. IT systems are integral to every functional area of an organization. For example in accounting and finance, managers use IT systems to forecast the revenues and business activity whereas marketing managers use IT to manage their relationship with customers, doing promotional analysis and price analysis.
In conclusion, information systems and information technologies are very essential in daily lives. It eases human activities as it helps human to manage their lives like managing the bank transactions. IT and IS makes humans live more manageable and easy as they can store unlimited information and able to be done with least energy and time.Human Resource Management
I am taking Human Resource Management for my first degree. I am influenced to take this course because my father is a Human Resource manager and I get to know a little bit of what actually a human resource manager does. Sometimes I even follow my father to some of his training programs. I find it interesting to plan and conduct trainings and events and involve with people. It would be fun to be able to involve with people throughout doing your job rather than only sitting in front of the computer all day long and even all year long or worst, for the rest of your lives.
What is human resource management? Human Resource Management (HRM) focuses on recruitment of, management of, and providing direction for the people who work in the organization. Some examples are interviewing people to be assigned for a certain job and manage the payroll of employees. It also involves the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training. Human Resource Management is also a strategic and comprehensive approach to managing people and the workplace culture and environment. Effective HRM enables employees to contribute effectively and productively to the company and accomplish the organization's goals and objectives. Human Resource Management can also be performed by line managers.
Depending on the size of the organization, these human resource jobs may have overlapping responsibilities. In larger organizations, the Human Resources generalist, the manager, and the director have a clear job scope, separated roles in HR management with progressively more authority and responsibility in the hands of the manager, the director, and even the Vice President who may lead several departments including administration. HR directors and HR managers may lead different departments by functional or specialized HR staff such as the training manager, the compensation manager, or the recruiting manager. Human Resources staff members are advocates for both the company and the people who work in the company.
The role of the HR manager must parallel with the needs of the changing organization. The HR Generalist, still has responsibility for employee benefits administration, often payroll, and employee paperwork, especially in the absence of an HR Assistant. To be successful business partners, the HR staff members have to think like business people, know finance and accounting, and be accountable and responsible for cost reductions and the measurement of all HR programs and processes. HR people will have to prove they have the business savvy necessary to sit at the executive table.
I hope by the time I am graduating, I will have and posses what it takes to be a good human resource manager.
Myself
Sunday, 29th of March 1992 was the day I was brought into the world. I was given a beautiful name, Nurhidayah ‘Aliaa binti Che Zulhaimee which means ‘guidance towards the right path’ by my parents and my grandmother. I was born on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan. I am my parents’ first child and my grandparents’ first grandchild. My family consist of four members; my father, my mother, myself and a younger brother.
My father’s name is Che Zulhaimee bin Abdullah. He is 44 years old this year and was born in Kedah on the 17th December 1967. He is the second child of four and is the only child who graduated the first degree overseas, Midwestern States University, United States of America to be exact. He completed his masters degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM in business and now working as Assistant General Manager in Human Resource department in TM. My father is a very kind and patient man. He respects people especially the elderly and never turns them down for any reasons. He treats people nicely, even his staffs can joke with him because they are comfortable with him. I admire him so much for his kindness and dedication towards his job. My father always buys things I need and things I want but he does not really show his love. However, deep down inside I know he loves me so much. He is the best father and always the number one in my heart and prayers.
My one and only brother is Muhammad Alif Ashraf bin Che Zulhaimee. He is 16 years old and will be taking SPM this year. We are pretty close as we don’t have any other siblings. With him I befriend, and with him too I fight. He is a very good brother. He always offers help and always accompanies me anywhere. We share the same interest that is watching movies. Sometimes we would go to the cinemas to see movies, sometimes we watch at home together. Nowadays, we are not as close as before because I am busy with my studies in UiTM Melaka and my brother is busy preparing for his SPM. He really worked hard for it and I hope he will excel with flying colours and are able to further his studies to university.
As for my education, I started with kindergarten. My first primary school was Treacher Methodist Girls School in Taiping, Perak. I went there for three years from Year One until Year Three and then moved to SK Jalan Empat Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor from Year Four to Year Six. I graduated my UPSR with straight A’s there and continue my secondary education at SMK Jalan Empat, Bandar Baru Bangi. I completed both my PMR and SPM there with straight A’s in the PMR and 7A’s and 2B’s for SPM. I completed my SPM with science stream taking biology. Then, I went to UiTM Puncak Alam to do Asasi Kejuruteraan for one year. I completed Asasi Kejuruteraan with CGPA 3.20 and now I am studying Human Resource Management at UiTM Kampus Bandaraya Melaka. Many people wonder why I am here and taking business instead of engineering or any other science branches. I actually applied for this course in the UPU for my first choice. There are many reasons but one of it is that I believe that fate has brought me here and that everything happens for a reason. It is difficult for me to cope with what I am studying now as I have no basics in business subjects at all but I do believe that if there’s a will, there’s a way. I will not give up and will strive to get good grades in every examination and graduate with the vice-chancellor’s award.
My vision for future other than graduating with good CGPA and vice-chancellor’s award are to further my studies to masters degree and doctoral degree, able to be a leader in an organization, to work with big companies such as TM and later have my own business. I want to buy a house and get married before the age of thirty. My dream car is Volkswagen. I love adventures and I want to climb Mount Kinabalu one day. I want to go travelling around the world for holidays and gain more experiences. Last but not least, I want to perform hajj at a young age.
